Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association Scholarship
The Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Association has funded scholarships for eligible horticulture students at Louisiana universities since the 1970s. From the first year of awarding one $500 scholarship to now awarding six $1000 scholarships annually, LNLA is committed to support the future members of the nursery and landscape industry in the state. We appreciate the financial support of members for their contributions and look forward to awarding even more scholarships in the future through the newly created Louisiana Nursery and Landscape Foundation for Scholarship and Research. Who is Eligible? Junior and Senior Undergraduates; M.S. students, Ph.D. students Majors in horticulture, landscape design or closely related allied field GPA – never finalized but normally 3.0 or better Previous recipients are eligible to continue to apply How to Apply Eligible students must fill out the application and send to the LNLA Scholarship Committee along with the following supplementary materials: Hand-written 500 word essay and why you deserve the scholarship Two letters of recommendation 2011 Scholarship Recipients Susannah Bridges Burley Susannah is a candidate for a Masters of Landscape Architecture at LSU. She is a native of Atlanta, GA and is a current resident of Hammond. She is a member of the Louisiana student chapter of the ASLA. She has a 3.5 GPA and has been employed as a student work at the LSU AgCenter’s Hammond Research Station. Kathryn Daigrepont Kathryn attended Tara High School and is a native of Baton Rouge. She is currently completing her associate degree program at Baton Rouge Community College and will be working on her BS degree at LSU shortly. She has a 3.5 GPA and has been employed at Clegg’s Nursery since 2007. She is a member of the LSU Horticulture Club and is a LNLA certified nursery and landscape professional. Jacob Reichley Jacob is a native of DeRidder, LA and graduated from DeRidder High School in 2008. He is a senito majoring in the landscape-turfgrass curriculum in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Louisiana Tech University. He currently serves as president of the Greenscape Club at Louisiana Tech and is a student worker at the campus greenhouses in Ruston. He is considering pursuing a Master’s degree in landscape architecture upon completion of his BS degree. Thomas Stelly Thomas is the 2011 Ira Nelson Scholarship Award Winner. He graduated from Ovey Comeaux High School and is senior in the landscape and horticulture management sustainable agriculture curriculum at the University of Louisiana – Lafayette. Thomas was born in Lafayette and is a resident of Youngsville. He is currently establishing a landscape maintenance service and is working at one of the orchid growers in Lafayette this semester. Daniel Wells Daniel is a native of Opelike, AL and holds BS and MS degrees from Auburn University. He is a resident of Zachary and is currently attending LSU pursing a Ph.D. degree in the plant and soil sciences horticulture concentration. His nursery research is under the direction of Dr. Ed Bush. He has a graduate school GPA of 4.0 and has presented his research work at the Southern Nursery Association Research Conference and other meetings. Mark Wilson Mark is a junior at LSU and is a resident of Gonzales. Her attended Baton Rouge Community College and is now enrolled in the environmental horticulture undergraduate program at LSU. He has served as a student work for Dr. Ed Bush and is now working as a student worker for Dr. Kathryn Fontenot. Her is the current president of the LSU Horticulture Club. He has attended the GSHE the past several years, in addition to the Nursery/Landscape Expo in Texas.

Susannah Bridges Burley
Susannah is a candidate for a Masters of Landscape Architecture at LSU. She is a native of Atlanta, GA and is a current resident of Hammond.
